Day 40 - Heading South and the forecast - no change

 June 20, 2026

We crossed over the Kakwa River on our travels south after staying the night at Gregg Lake Campground in the Switzer Provincial Park. It was still raining and a bit cold.  Too cold for me to get out exploring. The ladies at the check in also mentions there were bears in the area which was another great deterrent for me.

Trying to take pictures when its raining and your camera focuses on the raindrops.

Love the way the clouds were hanging around the crags.

Craggy Mountain close by the HR Milner Generating Station and Coal Pit

While looking at the map I seen this description and had to look it up. When I showed the picture to Chris he noticed the spirit houses has eastern / Russian orthodox crosses on them.

No words needed

All 3 critters eating dinner together. They have done so great on the trip.  It has been a lot of traveling and packing up, new smells to check out and nothing the same at the next stop.
The one constant is they have us and they have each other.

This is what Gregg Lake Campground would look like without all the grey clouds and rain
It was a beautiful stay amongst the pines and a place I would stay again.

Along Highway 40 - also known as Bighorn Highway they have laaid a wooden drivable trail along side the highway.
